Programming Tools Developer
Green Plug, a small dynamic start up in the field of smart power control, is looking for a Programming Tools Developer to join our world class team of hardware and software engineers.
Specifically, we're looking for some one to build custom IDEs and applications to help power supply designers use and program our Green Power Processor, a novel microprocessor targeted at innovative control of power convertors.
You will have experience in building innovative programming tools, ideally IDEs, and so have a good knowledge of program development environments, compilers and so forth. You will also be experienced at designing tools to give the end user the environment they need to be productive in their application area. Strong familiarity with an OO scripting language (ideally Python) and with C and C compilation are also necessary.
Knowledge of embedded programming and a lack of fear of hardware are also desirable qualities but we'll accept a willingness to learn new areas. You'll need to be an excellent communicator, both to extract requirements from the problem domain and to explain the tools to "hardware guys."
You should also thrive in the chaos and unstructured environment of a small ambitious start up, where your contribution can reach well beyond your job title. You'll be reporting directly to the head of engineering and so should be prepared to own your area of expertise without much handholding.
We'd like a PhD and related experience but we'll happily talk with people who don't match this profile if you are confident that you can make a stellar contribution since we really like to hire the best people for the job.

Digital Power Innovator
Reporting to the head of Engineering, this position is to bring new talent and capability to an existing group of experienced and innovative engineers, working in the area of smart power.
The candidate will have an in depth knowledge of digital control techniques and hardware, as applied to power supply design, gained through Ph.D. level research or as an acknowledged expert in the field. The ideal candidate will be familiar with all aspects of such a system: Control Algorithms for advanced switch mode topologies; Digital control processors; Power supply design and manufacturing; Innovative power supply topologies and techniques. Familiarity with chip design (digital and analog), battery technology, embedded code development and communication signaling would be useful too - We don't expect any one to be expert in all of these areas but the more you have touched, or are interested in learning about, the more you'll enjoy this position.
The company is a small and ambitious start up and the right person will have a lot of opportunity to touch and effect many areas of the technology and the company. This is not a position for some one who wants to fit in a small box and do one thing. The job will involve everything from esoteric and revolutionary approaches to architecting smart power supplies through to sitting at a bench soldering components onto demo boards, as needed to get to a successful conclusion.
A passion for innovative technology, a desire to be involved in a socially responsible "green" product and a willingness to dive in and contribute where ever you can, working with a group of like minded individuals, are all necessary to be a good fit for this this position. Good communication skills, high levels of motivation and professional discipline, and a collaborative mindset are also very desirable.
